The inspiration for this healthy and delicious vegan and dairy-free Matcha Mint Shamrock Smoothie came from the iconic “Shamrock Shake” at McDonald’s that is offered for a limited time close to St. Patrick’s Day. Most people know it today as a mint-flavored milkshake, but it actually started out as a lemon-lime flavor when it debuted in 1970. (I’m so glad they changed flavors, haha!)

I decided to create a healthy and tasty mint version using Yum Matcha and Nature’s Flavors Organic Peppermint flavor extract, along with other nutritious ingredients such as spinach, banana, dairy-free yogurt and plant milk. This delicious and healthy smoothie only has 155 calories and 5.5 grams of fat, definitely healthier than the real Shamrock Shake. Matcha has many benefits including reducing stress, boosting energy, aids in weight loss and detoxifying the body and has antioxidants to help prevent diseases and more.
