Meatball Heart Pizza

Perfect for date night!

For couples looking to have a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner without the hassle of reservations or expensive restaurant food, a delicious date night meatball heart pizza is the perfect solution. Not only do you get to create something together with your significant other (or the kids), but you can also enjoy a tasty homemade meal that’s sure to make the day memorable. With this recipe, you’ll learn how to make a unique pizza that’s sure to make any Valentine’s Day dinner special. Plus, with every bite you and your special someone share, you can be sure that the love and memories will last forever.

Using a ready-made crust makes this pizza super easy to make or use your favorite pizza dough recipe. I used a gluten-free almond flour crust, some bottled pizza sauce and added my favorite toppings along with sliced meatballs in the shape of a heart to give it the extra special touch! Feel free to personalize with your favorite toppings such as mushrooms, peppers, onions, etc.

Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

  • Italian style pork meatballs (at least 6 and can be plant based for a vegan version)

  • Premade pizza crust (or make your own using your favorite recipe) I used Cappello’s almond flour crust, you can find in the freezer isle.

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)

  • 1/2 tsp Dash Italian Medley seasoning

  • Pizza sauce (roughly 1/4-1/2 cup)

  • Italian blend cheese (about 1/2 cup)

  • Black olives

Note: Customize the toppings to your liking. Other tasty choices are: mushrooms, onions, peppers etc.

Instructions:

Cook meatballs as directed on package. I baked on a foil-lined baking sheet at 375℉ for 30-33 minutes.

When finished baking, remove meatballs from oven. Let cool for 5-10 minutes, then slice in half and set aside.

Add olive oil and Italian seasoning in a small bowl.

Place pizza crust on a pizza pan and brush outer edges with the olive oil mixture.

Spoon desired amount of pizza sauce on crust, spreading to about 1/2 inch of the edge.

You can sprinkle a little extra Italian seasoning on at this point, if desired.

Add sliced meatballs (cut side down) in a heart shape on top of the sauce.

Add cheese around and in the center of the meatballs, then load with desired toppings.

I love olives, so add outlined the meatballs in sliced black olives. Another great choice would be diced red peppers for a pop of color.

Bake as directed on the crust instructions. For my frozen Capello’s almond flour crust I baked 15 minutes or until the cheese was bubbly and starting to brown (I like my crust crisp!)

For an extra pop of romantic color, add more pizza sauce in the shape of a heart and cook one minute longer just to warm the sauce up.

This pizza is a show stopper and delicious to boot! Easy and quick romantic dinner for two…or for a small family. Kids love this creative and tasty idea.

Enjoy!
