Eureka! Friends, I have been trying to develop an easy dairy free and corn free recipe for caramel sauce for some time now and I’ve finally nailed it. This Easy Caramel Sauce has the delicious flavor and texture of the traditional but with no dairy or corn syrup added. It’s vegan friendly using coconut milk, Nature’s Flavors Dulce De Leche organic flavor syrup, plant butter and cream of tartar (add a pinch of sea salt for a salted caramel sauce!) It comes together in less than 10 minutes for a creamy and luscious caramel sauce that can be used for dipping, drizzling and even as a simple syrup for brushing cake layers before icing.

The Nature’s Flavors Dulce De Leche organic flavor syrup makes this recipe super easy to make a delicious and quick caramel sauce.

Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

How to make dairy free caramel sauce

Instructions:

To a medium saucepot, add milk, flavor syrup and cream of tartar and stir.

Over medium heat, bring to a soft simmer while stirring occasionally. Let simmer, but not boil, for about 2 minutes while stirring constantly. Reduce heat if necessary to avoid boiling (pots and stovetops can vary.)

What is the difference between simmering and boiling?

Let me break it down in simple terms: Simmering is basically boiling at a lower temperature, and you will notice smaller bubbling that occurs. Boiling is at a higher temperature and large bubbles will appear.

After simmering for two minutes, remove pot from heat and add butter. Stir for one minute, then add pinch of sea salt for a salted caramel sauce, if desired.

The caramel sauce will thicken as it cools. After cooling, stir and use immediately or add to jars or covered containers and refrigerate.

When ready to use refrigerated sauce, heat in microwave 10-12 seconds, stir and use.

This caramel sauce is best used within 3 days for optimal flavor and texture but will be safe to consume up to 7 days if refrigerated.

It’s so delicious you’ll be trying to find ways to add to all your recipes!

I used the caramel sauce on this Apple Dutch Baby pancake for a caramel apple delightful breakfast for fall.

Enjoy!
