Peppermint Lip Balm

All-Natural

Give the gift of soft lips with this All-Natural Peppermint Lip Balm. This recipe makes 26 lip balms to fill 0.5oz size containers. Made with 100% pure and organic beeswax, organic virgin coconut oil, vitamin E oil and Nature’s Flavors Organic Peppermint Pure Essential Oil. I’ve been making my own lip balm for years and my friends and family have enjoyed receiving this as a gift also. The vitamin E and coconut oil helps nourish and protect your lips all-year-round, but especially during the cold winter months. The Nature’s Flavors Organic Peppermint Pure Essential Oil gives this lip balm a fresh peppermint scent and taste for perfectly kissable lips.

It is important that you use an unrefined or “virgin” coconut oil. Unrefined coconut oil has many health benefits, including antibacterial, antifungal, analgesic, antimicrobial, and has antioxidants, just to name a few. Unrefined coconut oil is safe for any age and will have a slightly higher coconut flavor or scent than the refined, but the benefits are much greater. One of my friends claimed that it helped with her chronic cold sore issue, and she has far less breakouts when using this lip balm regularly.

Instructions:

Line a large baking sheet or tabletop with wax, foil or parchment paper to prevent any drips and for an easy clean up.

Remove lids (set aside) and lay out open containers in a row. I used a mixture of clear and white plastic ones to give to women and the tin containers for my “manly” friends.

Add coconut oil and beeswax to a small sauce pot and melt over medium heat, stirring frequently.

(I like to use a rubber spatula for stirring.)

When coconut oil and beeswax are completely melted and translucent, remove from heat and add both the vitamin E oil and the peppermint essential oil and stir to mix thoroughly.

Transfer to a suitable container for pouring. (I use a spouted measuring cup.)

Carefully fill each container. Mixture is hot, so this should be done by an adult or with supervision.

Allow to cool completely before placing lids back on. You will see the color change from translucent to white and the container should be cool to touch.

Placing lids on too soon will cause moisture droplets to form on top. This recipe makes 26 lip balms to fill 0.5oz containers.

For a special touch, you can print your own designed labels or have them printed from AVERY like I did.

I was able to choose the exact size I needed, create my own design, and have them printed and shipped the next week. (They also offer expedited services or print from home options.)

The labels add a nice festive and colorful touch and let everyone know what you are giving and that it’s made with all-natural ingredients and safe.

(You can also add a bottom label listing all ingredients used.)

Share your “Peppermint Kisses” with the one you love!

Enjoy!
