If you are looking for a fun drink for a celebration or party try this easy recipe for Cotton Candy Glitter Bombs that you can use in champagne, sparkling cider or any drink that has some translucent qualities in it. These Cotton Candy Glitter Bombs were made using flavored cotton candy from Nature’s Flavors and edible glitter. I used mango, strawberry and regular cotton candy flavors to add a special elevation to the drink experience. If serving at a party, I would suggest making small signs in front of each flavor so guest know which they would like to choose best. (Although it only adds a small hint of flavor.)

Parties that cotton candy glitter bombs would be great to use at include bachelorette, bridal shower, New Year’s, birthday (especially a 21st birthday) or even a baby shower gender reveal. For a gender reveal party, you could load up the color glitter that the gender of you baby is going to be (pink or blue glitter) in the cotton candy and use a sparkling cider so that every age can join the fun. (Find the edible glitter for drinks linked in the recipe card at bottom of post.)

Let’s begin!

Ingredients needed to make cotton candy glitter bombs

Ingredients:

  • Nature’s Flavors Cotton Candy (many delicious flavors available like bubblegum, banana, cherry and even champagne!)

  • Edible glitter for drinks, in desired color

  • Champagne or Sparkling Cider (or any translucent beverage)

  • Cups or sealed containers to hold cotton candy glitter bombs and keep moisture out

Instructions:

What size should I make my cotton candy glitter bombs?

First, decide which glasses you are going to use and look at how wide the opening on the glasses are to determine how small or large to make cotton candy glitter bomb balls.

You want the cotton candy glitter bomb to easily fit through the opening of your glass. You may have to pinch of a piece of cotton candy and test one or two before adding glitter and making all of them.

How to make cotton candy glitter bombs

After determining what size your cotton candy glitter bomb ball should be, pinch off enough cotton candy and use a small measuring spoon to add 1/8 tsp edible glitter to each and gently fold together until a somewhat round ball is made.

Very important note: Please make sure your hands and fingers are extremely clean and thoroughly dry before handling the cotton candy. You do not want to expose it to any moisture before these will be used.

What determines the color that champagne will turn for cotton candy glitter bombs?

I thought it would be fun to somewhat match the color of the cotton candy with the glitter but please note that it will be the glitter that mainly determines what color your champagne will turn.

For example: If you are using cotton candy glitter bombs for a gender reveal party, you can choose to use a yellow cotton candy, but fill it with either blue or pink glitter.

How to activate cotton candy glitter bombs

To activate your cotton candy glitter bombs, simply drop into champagne, sparkling cider or any translucent drink.

As soon as the cotton candy glitter bomb hits the beverage it will dissolve, and the edible glitter will disperse and make the drink sparkle.

For a swirling fun effect, use a swizzle stick or straw to stir.

Set back and admire the beautiful colors and swirls before sipping on.

These pictured were created using gold and light lavender edible glitter.

How to store cotton candy glitter bombs

Until ready to use, store cotton candy glitter bombs in an airtight container and then place into a freezer baggie to prevent any moisture from entering. Store at a cool room temperature in a dark area, or double bag and freeze. Due to possible humidity in fridge, I would suggest not storing them there for long and increasing the chance of sugar crystals melting.

They should be safe to consume for up to the expiration date on cotton candy, but I suggest making cotton candy glitter bombs no more than one or two weeks before needed to ensure sure no moisture gets into them from humidity.

Cheers to this fun and festive way to celebrate!
