Banana Date Energizer Smoothie

Who needs a boost? I bet most of you said “YES, ME!” Well let me tell you, this Banana Date Energizer smoothie is not only delicious, but it will get you going in a healthy, wholesome way. Easy to make with four simple ingredients: almond milk, banana, dates and cinnamon, all you need is a blender or smoothie maker and you will have a medley of naturally sweet energy to enjoy! This recipe makes roughly 12-14 ounces, depending on the size of the banana and amount of ice you use.

The science behind it:

First off, bananas and dates have a high natural sugar content that fuels our bodies during periods when we are burning a lot of energy…not to mention they make great natural sweeteners.😉 Can you say “YUM!” Bananas also contain complex carbohydrates and the dates, simple carbohydrates. Contrary to what some people think, not all carbs are bad! Our bodies need these “good” carbs and they are converted into natural energy. The warm cinnamon is a great taste contrast with the sweet banana and dates that help with blood sugar control and has anti-inflammatory properties. Basically, this is a tall glass of vitality and endurance, rich in minerals such as calcium, potassium and magnesium…so, DRINK UP!

Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana (cut and frozen)

  • 1 cup Almond, Coconut or Oat Milk

  • 3 dried dates, pitted

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2-3 cubes of ice

Optional: I like to sprinkle a hint of ground cloves on top!

Instructions:

Life can be busy, so I cut up and freeze my bananas ahead of time for an easy and convenient grab and fix solution.

If you don’t have any frozen, you can still use a fresh banana, just add a few extra cubes of ice. The reason I use frozen, instead of fresh is because of the consistency. Frozen=smooth, Fresh=frothy.

Now, just take all four ingredients, throw them in your blender or smoothie maker and hit the blend button! Blend until smooth, pour into your drinking glass or to-go cup and enjoy!

I like to sprinkle a little pinch of ground cloves on top!
