Adding a spice cake mix to pumpkin batter to make homemade baked pumpkin spice donuts for fall breakfast.

Add entire spice cake mix to large bowl and stir with a rubber spatula or large mixing spoon until just incorporated and no dry mix remains.

Transfer batter to a gallon size plastic baggie and snip one corner (about an inch long) and squeeze and pipe evenly into doughnut mold pans. Note: you can also spoon batter into pan, but I find the piping method quick and easy.

Place pans into center of preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until when checked with a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs or you can also quickly press doughnut down with your finger and if doughnut bounces back it should be ready. Remove from oven and let cool in pan for 2-3 minutes before transferring doughnuts to a cooling rack.

To make maple glaze:

Add sugar, syrup and vanilla to a medium bowl and stir briskly until thoroughly blended. Add milk, 1 tsp at a time, to reach desired consistency. Spoon glaze over doughnuts and enjoy immediately.
